I recently made a video explaining how to make a gaming channel work for 2024. Here is a quick thought from it.
Step-by-step process:
- Find a game that has popularity but is not TOO popular. The easiest way to do this is to use websites like Steam Charts and Google Trends to inform your decision.
- Understand your viewer demographic. Some games have up to 40% female gamers or are skewed to younger ages. Make sure you are aware of what kinds of people play your game so you can maximize audience impact.
- Keep a list of your Competitors. You will look to them for inspiration and trends, especially in the beginning. Write them down in a Google Sheet or some database-friendly software like Notion. Write down what you like and don’t like about their titles, thumbnails, video editing, etc…
- Establish content angles. In other words, video ideas and formats to guide your building process.
